Why this site exists

During those three summers, I led the press room tour hundreds of times, and I heard the same questions at the ticket desk: can you visit, how long does it take, does the tour booked the day before include the château. The last question deserves a clear answer, because disappointment is common: most wine tours stop at the wall, on the vineyard side, for photos and terroir explanations. Only one option takes you through the gate. I built this guide around that difference, explained on the page dedicated to the château visit and developed in the complete guide.

How I work

The opening hours, dates, and historical facts come from the château and what I learned while working there: nine centuries since the monks of Cîteaux, four capstan presses in the winery, a Grand Cellier that could hold two thousand barrels of wine. The ratings, number of reviews, and tour programs come from GetYourGuide: I copy them without rounding, and when a product is too new to have reviews, I state that instead of filling in the gaps. I never quote prices. Tour prices vary by date and season, and a figure copied one day is wrong the next: the current rate is displayed in the booking widget, and the château's rate at the ticket office. It’s more honest this way.

What I am not

I do not sell tickets, I do not manage any reservations, and I do not speak on behalf of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, which occupies the premises. When I recommend something, it’s what I would book myself, and when a tour disappoints some travelers, I say so with the reason. The site’s funding is detailed on the affiliation page.
